How we work
Our approach
We are a small firm and we do a small number of things. Being explicit about what those are saves everybody time.
What we look for
Buy & build (via Paragon Capital). Majority stakes in established professional and business services firms in fragmented Dutch markets. Typically €0.5–5M revenue, stable client base, a team we would want to work with for a decade. Owner succession, partial exit and growth capital all work.
Real estate and structuring (UMICO). Project-level development equity, and structuring or restructuring assignments where our own capital may follow the work.
Technology (UMICO). Selective minority positions, usually alongside specialist investors.
What we don't do
We do not invest in turnarounds of businesses we do not understand, we do not take positions we cannot influence, and we do not manage money for third parties. We invest our own capital only.
What a process looks like
1. A conversation. Confidential, no documents required. Usually an hour.
2. An indication. If there is a fit, a value range and a proposed structure within two weeks. Early and honest, so nobody spends months on a deal that was never going to work.
3. Due diligence. Focused and proportionate. We have done this often enough not to need a hundred-page request list.
4. Completion and integration. Planned before signing, not after.
Most of our conversations do not become transactions, and that is fine.
